Enjoy the Mediterranean Sea.” The height of the tourist season was after August 15th. “I went to two tourist agencies at the harbor asking them in Greek for a day tour,” explained Despina. “They both told me to go to Samiotis Tours.”

January 8, 2013, New York NY - Marking the first time that the federal government has provided a grant related specifically to Orthodox Christian studies, Fordham's Orthodox Christian Studies Center has received a prestigious award from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The three-to-one matching grant, secured by Fordham scholars Aristotle Papanikolaou, Ph.D. and George Demacopoulos, Ph.D.will help establish a $2 million endowment to create a Distinguished Scholar-in-Residence program and a Dissertation Completion Fellowship program.

A Modern Tourist’s View of Pergamon Museum

“Absolutely everyone on my Kontiki Tour was heading to one place in Berlin: the Pergamon Museum which is the best Ancient Greek Museum in Europe,” said Despina Siolas, MD/Ph.D. “It is amazing how all the museums of Germany are East of the Brandenburg Bridge.” Without realizing it, she stumbled on one of the reasons for the reunification of East and West Germany. East Berlin has the culture of Western civilization, acquired by Germany’s intellectuals and princes for generations. A West Germany needed the East with these important museums for a united country.
