Interview with 3OH!3

On June 17, Sean Foreman from the electro-pop duo 3OH!3 chatted via telephone with Markos Papadatos about their new album “Omens.” In addition to Sean, 3OH!3 is made up of producer Nathaniel Motte.
Throughout their career in music, their “Streets of Gold” album debuted in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 all-genre charts and their debut studio album “Want” has been certified gold with cumulative digital track sales in excess of 6.5 million; moreover, they have sold out headlining tours worldwide and they earned a “Best Tour” nomination at the 2009 mtvU awards. Finally, in 2009, they have been nominated for a pair of MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in such categories as “Best New Artist” and “Best Collaboration” for “My First Kiss.” Their song “Don’t Trust Me” peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and it has been certified triple platinum.

Theater Review: "Tesla"

On May 24, “Tesla” opened Off-Broadway at Theatre 80 in New York City. The play, written by Sheri Graubert and directed/produced by Sanja Bestic. focuses on inventor, electrical engineer and mechanical engineer Nikolas Tesla.
English-born actor and model James Lee Taylor stars in the leading role of young Nikola Tesla and Jack Dimich plays old Nikola Tesla.
The play chronicles the life of the largely neglected Serbian-American scientist and inventor Tesla, known for his design of the alternating current electricity supply system, among countless other inventions and patents. The drama portrays the fleeting triumphs of his life, as well as the low points, as he becomes overshadowed by rivals Thomas Edison and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, and then faces financial ruin, until his final days in a New York hotel room as he recalls the massive devastation taking place in his homeland during Hitler’s regime.

On April 17, gospel music sensation Amy Grant chatted via telephone with Markos Papadatos about her latest studio album “How Mercy Looks From Here,” which is her first CD in ten years.
It is expected to be released on May 14, via her record label, Sparrow Records and it was produced by Marshall Altman, who has worked with an array of artists such as Natasha Beddingfield, Matt Nathanson, Brooke Frasier and Audrey Assad. “I appreciated Marshall’s interest in the creative process rather than focusing on how to make it successful. It was always about what was right in front of us and following that creative idea and letting the outcome take care of itself. I really loved that and I really related to that. I hope I get to work with him again. It was really fun,” she acknowledged.

Interview with Ioanna Kotrotsios from Hermes Expo International
On May 11, Ioanna Kotrotsios chatted in-person with Greek-American journalist Markos Papadatos about being a recipient of the prestigious Hellenic Times scholarship. Ioanna is an honors student from Marple Newtown High School in Pennsylvania. She has played a leadership role both at her school and in her larger community, serving as a role model among her peers. She is actively involved with the Hermes Expo Youth Initiative, as well as the Hellenic News of America, one of the largest bilingual Greek-American newspapers in the country.

Long Island-based country singer Lisa Matassa sat down and chatted in-person with Greek-American journalist Markos Papadatos about her critically-acclaimed new EP “Somebody’s Baby” and its title cut single.
“The EP is doing great and I am happy about that. You want to make sure that there is a connection with your audience and that your listener is connecting with your music. You want people to like you and you want to love what you do,” she said. “What you see is what you get with me. I am so appreciative of the fans and the support that I have been getting from them. It’s amazing how loyal the country fans are and I want my fans to know that I am always accessible to them so I always stay in touch with them via my Facebook and Twitter pages.”

On April 23, pop music sensation Cody Simpson chatted via telephone with Markos Papadato about his newest radio single “Pretty Brown Eyes” and his upcoming studio album, as well as his musical endeavors and plans for the future.
His latest single “Pretty Brown Eyes” is available on iTunes and its music video premiered on YouTube, which was well-received by pop music fans worldwide. “I wrote it about a girl with pretty brown eyes. It is a quite simple song, but it is a fun summer record,” he said. “I thought it was the perfect song to put out.”

Nick Katsoris is the dinner chairman and HTSF president, as well as the general counsel of the Red Apple Group and the author of the critically-acclaimed “Loukoumi” children’s book series.
This year's event will honor businessman and philanthropist George Sakellaris, the Chairman and CEO of Ameresco, Inc. and it will also feature a concert that will be headlined by JT Taylor, formerly of Kool and the Gang, who will be performing some of the group’s greatest hits including “Celebration” and “Ladies Night.”

Rising country singer and Greek-American country artist Paulina Jayne spoke via telephone with Markos Papadatos about her four nominations at the Detroit Music Awards, which are slated to take place next month.
Born Paulina Jayne Perakis, she is nominated in such categories as “Outstanding Vocalist/Band,” “Outstanding Songwriter,” “Outstanding Song” as well as “Outstanding People’s Choice Song.” “That was so cool and it was such an honor. I am very excited and I hope we can come home with a couple of wins,” she said. “My band will be excited too and we are looking forward to it.”

On March 27, 2013, Marina And The Diamonds chatted via telephone with Markos Papadatos about her newest album “Electra Heart” and her “Lonely Hearts Club” tour, as well as her single “How to be a Heartbreaker.” Particularly impressive about Marina is that she either wrote or co-wrote every song on her album.
Marina has been praised by YouTube sensation and singer-songwriter Eli Lieb. “Marina’s style is slightly similar to mine and I feel that a collaboration with her would be really awesome. She is great,” Eli remarked.
