The President of the Hellenic American National Council Mr. Paul Kotrotsios hosted a teleconference on Thursday May 10th in which Council members discussed the upcoming national agenda prior to the PanMacedonian convention that will be hosted in Philadelphia on May 26-27, 2012. Mr. Kotrotsios also invited everyone to participate in the PSEKA convention in Washington on June 6-8, 2012. "We are moving ahead," Kotrotsios said while added that the PanMacedonian convention will be a great chance for all the members to get together and know each other better as well as be briefed about our national issues. Mr. Kotrotsios also thanked everyone who participated, sponsored or supported the Greek Relief program that came to life from the Hellenic Doctors Association as well as the Hellenic Relief Fund.HANC's president also welcomed the Cephalonian Federation "Oddyseas" which was added to HANC's team on April 10 in Atlantic City. Mr. Kotrotsios also spoke about the special relationship that was created between the Greek American community and the Olympic gold medalist Pyrros Dymas who travelled to the United States two months ago under the auspices of the PanHeperotic Federation in order to support his school back in his hometown of Hemara and also united all the people of Epirus. Dimas received an award by the Hermes Expo International in late April. Mr. Kotrotsios also mentioned that Federations and Presidents should all work together for better results and that HANC should work along with all Greek American Institutions and organizations such as the American Hellenic Institute in Washington, DC. "Everyone is much needed," Kotrotsios said. HANC's president also discussed the issue of celebrating the Council's 20th birthday in Washington, DC and asked all the members individually and the Federations to support the project financially in relation to HANC's convention.

Successful meeting between the Hellenic American National Council & PanArcadian Federation of America

A very extended presentation on Hermes Expo International was given on Saturday November 17th by its President and founder Mr. Paul Kotrotsios to the President and members of the PanArcadian federation of America in Astoria. The President of the Federation Mr. George Reveliotis as well as third Vice President Mr. John Vemis were amongst others who discussed with Mr. Kotrotsios the potential of the PanArcadian Federation of America, which is based out of Chicago, IL to participate in this year's Hermes Expo on April 13-14, 2013 in Atlantic City, NJ. 

Kotrotsios spoke about the Hermes Expo identity as the gateway to creating new business relationships and how important this is especially now that Greece is going through tough financial times. "Our goal is to bring the Greek-American community closer and to help all those Greeks who want to introduce their products and services to the the American market," he said.

"At Hermes we are working around the clock, 365 days a year, not only during the three days of the Expo," Kotrotsios said. He also invited the PanArcadian society to have its own booth at the expo. Kotrotsios also explained the benefits of the B2B meetings and how much they have helped new business relationships and businessmen network with each other. 

For Kotrotsios the goal is to bring many Federations and business people together, to keep the seminars and presentations by Greek lawyers and doctors and of course to invite and expand the participation of the youth. The Hermes Young Professionals Initiative and Business Seminars have been a great success so far. 

HANC CELEBRATES GREEK INDEPENDENCE DAY

The Hellenic American National Council (HANC) joins all the other Greek organizations in the United States and the Greek Diaspora in the Celebration of the 192nd Greek Independence Day.

The Greek struggle for independence against the Ottoman yoke was long, painful and destructive. A tremendous price was paid in human loss and material destruction. Most of the liberated area was living in misery, poverty and pain. All the ravages of war, however, did not stop the creativity, industriousness and ingenuity of the Greek people. Despite the many adversities they soon moved to a higher level in the political and economic ladder. In a few decades not only they surpassed in economic and other standards their former masters, but were also able to use their newfound power to expand their territory, first through the annexation of Thessaly (1881) and then through the victorious Balkan Wars of 1912-13.

Τα μέλη του Ελληνο-αμερικανικού Εθνικού συμβουλίου συνεδρίασαν το απόγευμα της Πέμπτης 10 Μαΐου μέσω τηλεφωνικής συνδιάσκεψης υπό τον συντονισμό του προέδρου του κ. Πάυλου Κοτρότσιου. Σκοπός της συνδιάσκεψης αυτής ήταν ο επαναπροσδιορισμός της Εθνικής ατζέντας του συμβουλίου εν' όψει και του συνεδρίου της Παμμακεδονικής στις 26 και 27 Μαϊου σε κεντρικό ξενοδοχείο της Φιλαδέλφειας. Κάλεσε επίσης όλους να παρευρεθούν καί στο Συνέδριο της ΠΣΕΚΑ στην Ουάσιγκτον στις 6-8 Ιουνίου, 2012.  "Προχωράμε στο έργο μας" τόνισε ο κ. Κοτρότσιος, ο οποίος σημείωσε ότι το επερχόμενο συνέδριο της Παμμακεδονικής θα είναι μια πολύ καλή ευκαιρία να έρθουν σε επαφή και να γνωριστούν μεταξύ τους όλα τα μέλη του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου και να ενημερωθούν απο τους υπεύθυνους που διαχειρίζονται το Εθνικό μας θέμα. Ο κ. Κοτρότσιος εξήρε το συμβούλιο για το πρόγραμμα προσφοράς βοήθειας (Greek relief) προς τις Ελληνικές οικογένειες που χτυπήθηκαν από την οικονομική κρίση, (το πρόγραμμα διαχειρίζονται οι Ομοσπονδία Γιατρών και το Hellenic Relief Fund), ενώ συνεχάρη και το καινούργιο μέλος του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου, την Ομοσπονδία Κεφαλληνίων "Οδυσσεύς", η οποία προστέθηκε στο δυναμικό του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου κατά την τελευταία συνεδρίαση του στο Ατλάντικ Σίτυ στις 30 Απριλίου. Ο κ. Κοτρότσιος μίλησε επίσης και για την σχέση που αναπτύχθηκε μεταξύ του χρυσού ολυμπιονίκη κ. Πύρρου Δήμα και της ομογένειας με την συμμετοχή και βράβευση του πρώτου από την ετήσια έκθεση Ερμής `Εξπο, αλλά και απο την περιοδεία του στην Αμερική υπό την αιγίδα της Πανηπειρωτικής Ομοσπονδίας, στόχος της οποίας ήταν η οικονομική ενίσχυση του σχολείου του στην ιδιαίτερή του πατρίδα την Χειμάρα και η συσπείρωση των Ηπειρωτών. Ο κ. Κοτρότσιος επεσήμανε επίσης την επιτακτική ανάγκη καλύτερης συνεργασίας μεταξύ των Ομοσπονδιών και Προέδρων αλλά και την καλύτερη και πιο αποτελεσματική συνεργασία μεταξύ του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου και άλλων ομογενειακών φορέων και οργανισμών όπως για παράδειγμα το Ελληνοαμερικανικό Ινστιτούτο στην Ουάσιγκτον αλλά και με άλλους φορείς και οργανισμούς που προσφέρουν. Τούτη την ώρα όλοι χρειάζονται, είπε και πρέπει να αξιοποιηθούν σωστά. Τέλος, ο κ. Κοτρότσιος έθεσε καί πάλι το θέμα εορτασμού της συμπλήρωσης των 20 χρόνων από την ίδρυση του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου και πρότεινε την Αμερικανική πρωτεύουσα ως την πιθανή τοποθεσία των εορτασμών, ενώ προέτρεψε όλα τα μέλη, ιδιωτικά και τις ομοσπονδίες, να συμβάλλουν οικονομικά έτσι ώστε η εκδήλωση να είναι εφικτή και σε συνάρτιση με το επερχόμενο Συνέδριο του ΕΣΕ.
