Corodemus wins 7th term to NJ State Assembly

Corodemus wins 7th term to NJ State Assembly

Assemblyman Steve Corodemus (R-11) was reelected on November 4, 2003 to his 7th term in the New Jersey State Legislature. The Assemblyman received the highest votes in the 11th legislative district which consists of 210,000 people in Monmouth County, New Jersey. New Jersey has a population of over 8 million people. New Jersey has a State budget of $24 Billion.

He is a strong supporter of the environment and fiscal responsibility. He presently serves on the Assembly Appropriations Committee.

"I am very grateful to the voters of the Eleventh Legislative District in Monmouth County. They have reelected me as their representative to the State Capital. I look forward to returning to Trenton and working with my colleagues to tackle the myriad of interests important to all of us," stated the Assemblyman.

Two days after the election the new Republican leader appointed Assemblyman Corodemus as Deputy Leader and will serve in leadership specializing on policy.

The Assemblyman's family is from the Mani region in Laconia, Greece. Steve "Sotiri" Corodemus is also a long time supporter of Greek Americans and has organized ceremonies to recognize their contributions to New Jersey and the United States of America. There is a modest size Greek American community in the greater Holmdel and Asbury Park areas within the Eleventh Legislative District in Monmouth County

Assemblyman Corodemus was the proud sponsor of a 1999 law entitled "The World Language Bill." The law creates an opportunity for high school students to receive high school credit for becoming proficient in a foreign language learned in a non-public school institution such as Greek School. "A surprisingly large number of students attend world language schools. With over 125 of these schools in our state, representing the diverse ethnic background of New Jersey, it is only right that these hard working pupils receive some recognition for all their work," explained Corodemus.

In 2002 Assemblyman Corodemus chaired the World Hellenic Interparliamentary Meetings and Elections in Athens Greece.

Assemblyman initiated a State appropriation to fund the creation of a movie that depicts the 1940's Jews that lived in Greece and their deaths in the Holocaust. The movie, produced by filmmaker Isaac Dostis titled," We Are Not Alone, Greek Jews and the Holocaust" had its debut to a capacity crowd on May 28, 2003 at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey.

Assemblyman Corodemus was also instrumental in the establishment of a permanent mission to the Greece by the New Jersey Commission of Economic Development. Corodemus participated in two New Jersey trade missions to Greece resulting in the formation of successful business relations establishing bilateral trade.
