Cartisano, Chairman of the Delaware County Council, Media, PA Linda A. Cartisano has served as Chairman of County Council since January 2007. She was elected to her second four-year term on County Council in November 2005 and served as Vice-Chairman in 2006-2007. She has been Solicitor for the City of Chester since 1996, and served as an Assistant Solicitor for Chester from 1982-95 and for the County of Delaware from 1999 until taking office as a Councilwoman in January 2002. Ms. Cartisano has been solicitor for the Darby Creek Joint Authority since 1987 and serves as Zoning Hearing Board Solicitor for Chester Township and Norwood Borough. She was Solicitor for Upland Borough from 1988-2001, for the Chester Development Office, Inc., from 1985-90 and for the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Chester from 1988-91, serving as Acting Executive Director in 1989. Ms. Cartisano was a member of the Chester Upland School Board from 1992-2001, serving as Vice-President from 1996. She represented the district at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit during those years, and was Vice-President of the Intermediate Unit board from 1999. Ms. Cartisano was a board member for the Chester Wallingford Chapter, American Red Cross, from 1992-98 and a member of the Widener-PMC Alumni Association from 1978-2001, serving as Vice-President and Treasurer. She has been a member of the board of the Chester Water Authority since 1998 and the Society for the Performing Arts, Media Theater, since 2002. She was graduated cum laude from Widener University in 1974 and from Temple University School of Law in 1978. Ms. Cartisano was presented the 2004 John L. Geoghegan Alumni Citizenship Award by Widener University for her academic achievement, leadership and community service. Her areas of responsibility and special concerns on County Council include Fair Acres, the Tax Claim Bureau, and the Office of Judicial Support. She is liaison for County Council with the Executive Director and County Clerk as well as the Commerce Center and economic development activities. She is a member of the County Retirement Board and the Economic Development Oversight Board. Ms. Cartisano is a resident of the City of Chester.
