Hill Conference Room: LeBow Engineering Center, Room 240

31st and Market Streets

Reception to follow

For the fourth year in a row, Dr. Maria Hnaraki, Director of Greek Studies, is pleased to welcome a Senior Visiting Scholar in the University Seminars Program of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation (USA). Dionysis Goutsos is Associate Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the School of Philosophy, University of Athens. His talk will illustrate the development of an authoritative source on the Modern Greek language, the Corpus of Greek Texts, which enables us to approach questions of continuity and change in Greek through a new perspective, as shown by the study of linguistic phenomena involving Greek connectives, neologism, geographical and textual variation.
