Lufthansa introduces its WeFlyHome program to the Greek community Lufthansa introduces its WeFlyHome program to the Greek community
Hermes, the God of merchandise and merchants, would be proud of the fact that one of the biggest Greek exhibitions in the USA, which attracts thousands of visitors and participants every year, is named in his honor. Hermes Expo International, the annual Greek American Business Forum was held on April 8-9, 2006 with the participation of about 300 exhibitors at the Trump Marina Hotel, Atlantic City. Since 1992, Hermes Expo International has successfully been building trade relations between North American and Eastern Mediterranean businesses. This is the largest business event in the Greek American community, and, as such, attracts the attention and interest of not only Sponsors from Greece, but also large companies all over the world: Lufthansa, Pepsi Cola, Phantis, Smart Business Now, Pan Gregorian Enterprises, CVM design and build, TGS Petroleum, and many others. Lufthansa was sponsoring the Forum for the first time. Since 1959, Lufthansa has carried millions of passengers to and from Greece. Throughout these years, the company has contributed to the impressive growth of Greek tourism and played a major role in the improvement of airline networks between Greece and the rest of the world, particularly the large Greek community in the United States.
At the Expo, Lufthansa introduced its WeFlyHome program to the Greek community, a unique internet portal to book flights online. The website is available at www.lufthansa-usa.com/WeFlyHome. The biggest change in the travel industry in recent years has been the splash of the internet. It used to be that you had to speak with your travel agent, or call airlines directly in order to make your travel plans. But as internet usage spread, it became possible to use the new technology to research destinations and compare prices comfortably from your computer. Today, online transactions are becoming the preferred customer s method of doing business especially in regard to travel. For this reason, Lufthansa expanded its online services and in the Spring of 2005 launched WeFlyHome, offering great low fares to more than 20 ethnic markets. By participating in such an important event as the Hermes Expo, Lufthansa was not only able to present the website to the Greek community, but also had a great opportunity to learn a lot from the community about their needs when it comes to traveling.
Luba Tolkachyov from Global Advertising Strategies represented Lufthansa, working at the booth answering any questions the Greek customers may have had about booking tickets online. And there were plenty of questions. What are the ticket prices? What are the connections like? And, of course, what destinations does Lufthansa fly to in Greece? Is it safe to buy tickets online? What if you don t speak English?
I didn t expect such a huge interest and demand in booking airline tickets online. When I showed to them all the simplicity and convenience of WeFlyHome website, people were very surprised? shared Luba Tolkachyov And I completely understand their amazement, because I felt the same way when I logged onto this web site for the first time. WeFlyHome is a unique website that was developed to make the booking process very easy and fast.
As Hermes Expo demonstrated, Greek Americans are very Internet savvy and use web-services quite frequently. Offering the WeFlyHome program, Lufthansa knows that having attractive online fares combined with a customized booking platform is a great benefit for the user. And Lufthansa is always offering something more. Four additional Greek destinations were added to WeFlyHome ? now, one can fly not only to Athens but to Thessaloniki, Chania, Heraklin, and Rhodes as well. Through its Frankfurt and Munich hubs, Lufthansa currently operates various daily connections to Greece from 16 U.S. gateways such as Chicago, Washington, DC and New York. By the way, speaking of Hermes, dont you think he would definitely trade his winged shoes for a soft, cozy and very comfortable seat with Internet connection and excellent service on board of any Lufthansa aircraft Wouldn t you?
