Workshops continue to use old materials and produce products that maintain their artistic and symbolic value in gold, pottery, copper, iron, wood and lace. Excellent wines made here include Montepulciano, Cerasuolo and Trebbiano. Award winning olive oils are found all over this region in addition to the famous traditional production of confetti (sugared almonds) and torroni (nougat). Making the finest pastas, Abruzzo, is also famous for mountain sheep cheeses, meats, and the finest fish dishes from the catches in the Adriatic Sea.
