Each 90-minute Concert program will feature works by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, and Vasilios Tsitsanis as well as selections of ?Rembetika? and traditional Greek folk songs. A variety of musical instruments will be played to accompany the Chorus, including bouzouki, kithara, accordion and piano.

The American concerts are being presented with the official approval (áäåéá åêôéðïóåïò) __of the renowned Greek composer, Mikis Theodorakis. Since 2001, the Mixed Chorus of Nafpaktos has staged the CHORUS FESTIVAL ? MIKIS THEODORAKIS in the City of Nafpaktos. The biennial Festival is a tribute to the composer, now 82 years old, whose life¢s work includes symphonies, chamber music, cantatas and oratorios, hymns, ballets, operas, and songs and song cycles. Additionally, Theodorakis is internationally famous for his film scores, including the musical scores of ?Zorba the Greek?, ?Z?, and ?Serpico?. During the American concerts, the Chorus will perform the Theodorakis composition they will have performed during the 2007 Theodorakis Festival, October 12 - 14, 2007 - less than two weeks prior to their American tour!
Ted N. Skiadas of Coatesville, PA heads the Mixed Chorus of Nafpaktos Concert Planning Committee. Ted is a native of the Nafpaktos region and has spent much time in this colorful City-by-the-Sea. A chance meeting with Maestro Kabakchiev in a Nafpaktian coffee shop last year was the inspiration for this First American tour. For many months, Ted and his Planning Committee ? HELLENIC NEWS OF AMERICA Publisher/Editor Pavlos J. Kotrotsios, Dr. Peter C. Patukas, and Peter N. Skiadas ? have been working long and hard, sorting out the myriad details and organizing Subcommittees all around the Philadelphia and Harrisburg regions.
The Nafpaktos Concert Planning Committee and Subcommittees are pictured here as they plan the Concerts, the Receptions, and the printed Commemorative Program.
